Product Safety

At S&S® Worldwide, we believe a good corporate citizen must thoughtfully manage its environment, as well as the health and safety of its employees and customers. We’re proud to have supplied safe products for more than 110 years, and safety remains our #1 priority.

We subject all toys and other children’s products imported into the United States to intense safety standards and regulations. We continuously work to meet or exceed these standards. To ensure the safety of the toys we distribute, we monitor all recalls we are made aware of very closely and use prudent judgment regarding our choice of suppliers, who we require to meet applicable product safety regulations. In the rare event that a recall is issued on a product we distribute, a company-wide system is in place to immediately respond to the situation. We will inform our customers openly and promptly. Pertinent recall information can always be found here at /productsafety/.

S&S® Worldwide imports innovative, age-appropriate products from all over the world. Every day we make efforts to ensure that they are as safe as possible. For example, our Color Splash!® branded paints, markers, crayons, pencils, dough, glitter, sand, chalk and glue are certified non-toxic and conform to ASTM D-4236.

Recent toy recalls demonstrate how important it is to continuously improve the entire industry’s testing, inspection and monitoring processes. We integrate a variety of quality standards in our daily business operations to reduce risks, minimize impacts and achieve an incident-free workplace. Regularly scheduled audits of our operations help us reach our internal safety goals, and we regularly review our product safety program, looking for ways to improve and become even more vigilant.

We strive to keep the good faith our consumers have that we will give them safe, high-quality products to inspire play, learning and fun.

We also encourage them to adopt safe and environmentally-friendly practices. Our representatives proactively monitor supplier operations around the world, routinely visiting factories to help make certain that they are complying with this policy.

Equal Employment & Affirmative Action

Providing equal employment opportunity is one of our most important policies. S&S® Worldwide pledges not to discriminate based on an individual’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, domestic partner or civil union status, sexual orientation or other protected class status. It is this Company’s policy to comply with all relevant federal, state and local laws with respect to affirmative action and equal employment opportunity for employees and applicants in all aspects of employment. We expect that our vendors and suppliers ensure non-discrimination in all of their employment practices as well.

California Proposition 65

Proposition 65, officially the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law that requires warnings be provided to California consumers when they might be exposed to chemicals identified by California as causing cancer or reproductive toxicity. The warnings are intended to help california consumers make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals from the products they use. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program and publishes the listed chemicals, which includes more that 850 chemicals. In August 2016, OEHHA adopted new regulations, effective on August 30, 2018, which change the information required in Proposition 65 warnings.
